Navigating Social Fatigue: When Your Social Battery Needs a Recharge
I cherish my time spent with friends, and the moments we share are always delightful. However, lately, I’ve found myself apprehensive about engaging with new people. My best friend expressed concern, noting that I’ve been somewhat reserved, and upon reflection, I realize that it’s true. The question arises: Is this withdrawal a negative aspect? I believe that, like any aspect of life, we undergo cycles, and occasionally, it’s acceptable to take a step back. Currently, my social battery for meeting new individuals is at its lowest. I opted out of attending a house party and canceled lunch plans with a friend introducing a new boyfriend because I simply didn’t feel up to being socially active.
In light of these circumstances, what steps should I take? The challenge is amplified when my friends are social butterflies, effortlessly navigating the centre of attention, while I find myself content in the quiet corner shied away from new people.
